Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) and Prime Tyme Athletics teamed up last weekend and showed the world once again that America Needs Cheerleaders!
After the devastating flooding in Nashville, Tennessee several weeks ago, the cheerleaders wanted to do something to help those in need, so they organized a clothing drive at their UCA Stunt Clinic.
Kerry Arrington, UCA Midsouth Regional Manager, got involved and after hearing from local coach, Cristiana Gentry-Broome of McGavock High School, she knew just where the donations needed to go. Many of the area teens attending McGavock High School were severely impacted by the flood, so Kerry and the gang organized for clothing to be collected for the teenagers and their families from that school.
“We used email, Facebook, and word of mouth to help spread the message, and it was a huge success,” explains Kerry.

The staff, all the teams present at the clinic, and even several people in the Nashville community who saw it on Facebook contributed to the cause. The teams involved included the West Nashville Broncos,
Cumberland County High School, Dodson's Elementary School, Pope John Paul High School, Van Buren County High School, Holy Rosary Academy, Southern Gymastics All Stars, and Prime Tyme Athletics. By the end of the day, the group had gathered more than 30 bags of clothing to donate to Ms. Broome and her school!
“Being from Nashville myself, I have directly seen and felt first-hand the impact the flood has had on the community,” says Kerry. “After speaking with Cristiana and some of the devastation her students have endured, I knew I wanted to help. I felt that asking for the support of cheerleaders at the stunt clinic would be a great success. Cheerleaders know how to get the word out and they definitely know how to lead the charge! Cheerleaders are leaders, change agents, and overall good ambassadors in the community. I feel this is evident by the quick response and success of our impromptu clothing drive. This just proves that America Needs Cheerleaders! ”
